About the Photographer

I’m a creator at heart. Early in my life, creativity was expressed through photography. After high-school, I trained in photography at NAIT, and quickly realized that the structured format of ‘Commercial photography education’ wasn’t what I wanted to do.

I stumbled around for a few years, finding computing and the early internet. As a result – I stumbled back to college as a Computer Engineering technology student. For the next few years I dabbled in web development and software engineering with a major Canadian software company. When those glory days ended at the end of the first ‘internet’ tech bubble – I moved to the other side of the business spectrum in communications and marketing – where I still spend much of my time.

Along the way the love of my life appeared, and that took me to the hardest job I’ve ever had. Being a parent to a few kids.

It’s been too many years since I actively shot photographs. Aside from the thousands of images of my kids, and activities of course, I’ve not taken photographs as art for years.

I’ve made a commitment to myself to take the art of photography a little more seriously again, or more specifically – to shoot with more intention. I’m a 9-5’er with a mortgage and a family. Photography isn’t my career, or my income source. It is a hobby – but a hobby that is close to my heart.

What I really want – is to capture the world that is – without drama, and without pessimism. To share that beauty that exists around us, unabashedly bypassing the cynicism that taints our commutes and the evening news.

Some of my images will eventually be available for sale – if you find anything that moves you the way it moved me.
