Prairies, Homesteads, and Western Light
Discover breathtaking landscape and rural architecture photography from Alberta and Western Canada. From vast prairie vistas to haunting images of abandoned homesteads, our photo galleries and blogs capture the evolving beauty of the land through all four seasons.
The plains and mountains are no longer wild as they once were. Nearly every square inch of the prairies has been converted to agricultural use, and those areas poor for agriculture and served by railroads turned into towns and villages to serve the local community. Alberta is a land of Prairie and Parkland cut back, tilled under, and homesteads built and abandoned. Underneath it all – a landscape still lurks hinting at that vast territory of potential.
Whether you’re drawn to early spring stillness, vibrant summer grain fields, the golden light of fall, or the quiet calm of winter, you’ll find powerful imagery and stories that celebrate the soul of the West. We celebrate the beauty of our landscape, from the land itself to the civilizations that have followed.
Uncover the light, history, and rugged charm of Western Canadian landscapes one frame at a time. This is the light of the west. The early mornings, the hot sun, and the evening twilight. That’s were you’ll find me.

Land Acknowledgement
My Home, and much of my photography is in Central Alberta, Canada.
I acknowledge that I am on Treaty 6, Treaty 7, and Treaty 8 Territory, traditional meeting grounds, gathering places, and travel routes for the Cree, Salteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene, Nakota Sioux, and other Indigenous Nations.
I acknowledge Canada’s first people, whose footsteps have marked these lands and whose knowledge and history are so tied to the land. Their history, culture, and stories must be told, taught, and recognized for the benefit of all Canadians.
